I was really excited to read this story and after being drawn right in from the beginging it quickly became an obsession to read what was on the next page.
Troy and Sparrows story is not your conventional love story and it certainly did not start out as a love story. But love isn't always conventional. Some time it sneaks up on you in the most unconventional way. Like a freight train slamming into you.
Troy is not a nice guy.
He Owned, He Consumed, He Possesed, He Overwhelmed.
Sparrow is everything nice.
Young, Sweet, Innocent.
Until Troy
After Sparrow is forced into a life and a situation she doesn't want she quickly learns to adapt. And Troy learns she can not be easily pushed around. They settle into a routine of sorts. But they both learn to soon it's not the devil you know that you need to worry about it's the devil in sheeps clothing you need to be aware of.
This is an amazingly well written story of the ties that bind. Of vengence. Of children having to pay for the sins of their fathers. And in the midst of all that finding love. Even when you didn't want it. Realizing that true love means excepting everything about a person. The good, the bad, and the ugly....the really really ugly.
This story builds and builds with a shocking revelation that had my heart pounding and had me on the edge of my chair waiting to see what would happen next.
I was introduced to L.J. Shen by a friend and I'm very greatful for the introduction and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
I was given this book for an honest review. Natalie W
